Seeking Sanity in a Syllable

Seeking Sanity in a Syllable

What potion cures this total madness,
this need to find the perfect word,
just to make this verse my own,
desperately testing
my sanity while
madly waiting
for a sign
from my
muse

Fittingly, this applies to the writing of this very poem (as is usually the case).  I originally titled it “Not Amused.”
The five word prompts for The Secret Keeper’s Weekly Writing Prompt #30 are test, potion, muse, own and sign.
Nonet ~ a poem of nine lines and a syllable pattern of 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, with rhyme optional
