Peacock Garden

Peacock Garden

Safe passage is but a fleeting thought
When leaving the sacred garden
Night birds dressed in indigo
Stand guard with wary eyes
Forbidden flowers
Drawing their ire
Beware their
Warning
Cry

Jane Dougherty’s Poetry Challenge #30 provides a painting and an option to use any of these words: indigo, cry, night bird, fleeting and forbidden.
