Missouri is my home now, but I miss the bright autumn colors of New York and New England, where numerous maple trees treat the eye with their vibrant reds and oranges.

  1. Well, we lived in Southwest Missouri for 38 years and some areas could be quite beautiful with the sycamores and sumac. But the northeast is just hill after valley after mountain of colorful beauty. Your tanka is a great tribute to that beauty and longing.
