waves peak in whitecaps

waves peak in whitecaps

waves peak in whitecaps
sedge on shore sings in the wind
desolate lake scene

cormorant breaks the surface
lifeless scene coming to life

This tanka is my response to Jane Dougherty’s A Month with Yeats: Day Twenty-Two (each day a new Yeats quote).

“I wander by the edge
Of this desolate lake
Where wind cries in the sedge”
W.B. Yeats
